Afghan schools will open for boys from Saturday, the new Taliban ministry of education said in a statement that gave no indication of when girls might be able to go back to their classes
Girls are excluded from returning to secondary school in Afghanistan, after the country’s new Taliban rulers order only boys and male teachers back to the classroom.
If the problem is no resources there is already solution in place for that, if the problem is lack of teachers we have solution for that too. But if the problem is your whole group doesn’t agree that girls should be in school then you are at war with daughters of this land.
What people are saying?
Nicola Careem This is by far the most egregious move by the #Taliban so far. They have – overnight – put on hold the futures and prospects of millions of people. A dark day for Afghan girls, the entire country & the world. Will international pressure be enough to ensure this is reversed?
Malala This is shameful and not at all new. In the past, the Taliban imposed a “temporary” ban on girls’ education that lasted five years. They are testing our resolve. We demand that leaders stand up for Afghan girls’ right to go to school.
