Unvaccinated players will be able to compete at the Australian Open

According to an email from the Women’s Tennis Association that was obtained by reporter Ben Rothenberg, players who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 will seemingly be granted permission to enter Australia for the tournament, provided they complete two weeks of hotel quarantine upon arrival and undergo regular testing while in the country.

Unvaccinated athletes will be able to take part in next year’s Australian Open after undergoing 14 days of quarantine, the WTA Tour told its players, according to an e-mail leaked to U.S. media.

An apparent backflip on border entry requirements for the Australian Open may allow unvaccinated players to compete at the first tennis major of 2022 after undergoing 14 days in quarantine.

What people are saying?

Greg Gammie So this means there’s no problem with all Aussies overseas coming back, and following on, what’s the point of anyone else getting vaccinated in Australia? Stop picking on unvacced people and pretend they’re tennis players.

dog luva Now let’s have the rest of Australia open. Gutless Australian open. Shows never been about a virus it’s all about cash. All those PRO vaccinated scum will still go. I assume this applies everywhere in Australia now? Good for the goose.
