Two Canadian citizens who were detained in China for three years will arrive back in Canada

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau hugged two Canadians who landed in Canada on Saturday following what amounted to a high-stakes prisoner swap involving China, the U.S. and Canada. Trudeau greeted the two after their plane landed in Calgary

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Minister Marc Garneau greeted Michael Kovrig, Michael Spavor, and Ambassador Dominic Barton as they arrived in Canada.

Two Canadians, former diplomat Michael Kovrig and businessman Michael Spavor, imprisoned in what China’s Western critics branded “hostage diplomacy” are headed home, Canadian PM says.

What people are saying?

victoria horobin Thank you Prime Minister. I am so thankful for your continuing leadership. And thanks to the whole diplomatic team. This has been so much more moving and joyful than I would have imagined.
