On Tuesday a Zomato customer Tweeted he was being denied a refund by the company because the customer service agent was having trouble communicating in Tamil with the staff of the hotel from which the customer had ordered, Scroll reported. According to the customer’s screenshot of the conversation, the agent had said “Hindi is our national language.”
Zomato apologises after employee tells customer Hindi is national language, everyone should know it. Zomato had initially sacked the employee. But she was later reinstated after CEO Deepinder Goyal criticised the social media outrage on the matter.
Zomato’s chief executive tweeted that his company has reinstated the customer care agent it had sacked just hours earlier for allegedly denying a customer a refund on grounds of not knowing a little Hindi.

Bhaskar Dhengia Thats the mentality you question. What’s the point of making something difficult for both parties. There should be some common sense among people that India is a diverse country and will need a common language to communicate. it will just make all such petty issues go.
Keerthana No people. I am sorry but Hindi is not a National Language.. it is one of the official languages but not a “national language”. C’mon guys India is a land of different Culture, Tradition, Languages.. we cannot stick to one language and call it a National Language.
