On Thursday, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an emergency use authorization for the InspectIR COVID-19 Breathalyzer, the first device that can detect COVID-19 in breath samples. The diagnostic testing apparatus can detect chemical compounds in breath samples associated with COVID-19, according to the agency.
The FDA granted emergency use authorization to the first Covid-19 test that can detect the coronavirus in a breath sample, within minutes and with a high degree of accuracy, the agency said Thursday.
The FDA has issued an emergency use authorization for a device that can detect COVID-19 in breath samples. The FDA says the device is 91.2% accurate at identifying positive test samples and 99.3% accurate at identifying negative test samples.
