Probe underway after China Eastern Airlines’ Boeing 737-800 crash
China Eastern Airlines said an investigation is underway following the crash of its Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 132 people aboard on Monday. The plane came down in a rural area near the city of Wuzhou, causing a “mountain fire” and unknown casualties, China’s state-run media reported.
Rescuers in China scoured heavily forested slopes with hopes fading of finding any survivors from the 132 people aboard a China Eastern Airlines passenger jet that crashed a day earlier in the mountains of southern Guangxi.
While the cause remains unknown, the crash of a Boeing 737-800 NG in China on Monday is the latest crisis for the American plane manufacturer, raising the prospect of renewed regulatory scrutiny.
What people are saying?
Travel Mohr Not unknown. Clearly pilot committed suicide took people with him. That is a pilot controlled nosedive not mechanical failure. If the plane had lost control it would spin while going down. That is a straight shot at high speeds.
Harambe This is not necessarily true, mechanical failure of the horizontal stabilizer could cause this. Pilot suicide is on the table, but you can’t rule out mechanical failure.
