Julius Jones is granted clemency by Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt

Julius Jones is granted clemency by Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt just hours before before he was scheduled to be executed for a 1999 murder he says he did not commit.

Oklahoma plans to execute Julius Jones on Thursday despite a parole board twice recommending the governor grant him clemency. Jones says he was framed for a 1999 murder. Legal experts say he did not match witness descriptions, his alibi was ignored and a juror called him a slur.

Governor Kevin Stitt grants clemency and commutes Julius Jones’s death sentence to life without parole. The execution scheduled for today is canceled.

What people are saying?

Kw89 Lol everyone saying he is not guilty because they don’t want him to be. That doesn’t mean he’s not guilty. They did this so theere would be no riots because yall know how it goes lately. The government has been pressured in these situations, and yall know it. It’s to avoid lootin

Brad Cooney Commuting a sentence doesn’t mean that the Governor thinks he’s innocent, it just means he overrode the execution order and gave him life in prison instead.
