Tamyra Mensah-Stock dominated the women’s 68-kg freestyle final for the US

Tamyra Mensah-Stock, 28, a Texas native whose father came to the U.S. from Ghana, became the first Black woman to win a gold medal in wrestling since the women’s competition was added to the Summer Olympics in 2004.

U.S. wrestler Tamyra Mensah-Stock closed out her first Olympics in dominating style Tuesday, winning gold in the women’s 68kg freestyle final. She is only the second woman — and the first Black woman — to win an Olympic wrestling gold for the U.S
