Soaring temperatures on the Italian island of Sicily could break a 44-year long European record

WMO is checking on reports of new European temperature record of 48.8°C in Sicily (Italy). We can’t yet confirm or deny its validity Athens (Greece) holds existing record of 48.0°C on 10.7.1977 Official records in WMO Weather and Climate Extremes Archive

Today has provisionally seen the highest temperature ever recorded in #Italy SIAS have confirmed that Siracusa in #Sicily reached 48.8ºC earlier this afternoon and if verified by @WMO, it will become a new European temperature record.

Yep. But will our greedy governments do anything? NO they bloody well won’t. After the dreadful fires in Australia where our iconic animals were decimated, they are still allowing the destruction of old growth forests for property development or wood pulp to China!
