Medical experts and LGBTQ advocacy groups have expressed concern about how reporting of these cases could lead to further vilifying LGBTQ people and misunderstanding of the condition, as happened with the HIV and AIDS crisis. Though monkey pox can be transmitted when having sex, it can also be passed on in a number of other ways involving physical contact with an infected person.
