The University of Hong Kong has demanded the Pillar of Shame sculpture be removed by Oct 13 at 5 pm. The sculpture, by Danish artist Jens Galschiot, was erected in remembrance of the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre, which killed scores of demonstrators in Beijing.
The Pillar of Shame, a sculpture that pays tribute to the victims of the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre, faces removal from the University of Hong Kong campus where it had stayed for 24 years. Yet another attempt to whitewash history and suppress collective memory.
“HKU without the Pillar of Shame telegraphs to students and staff, alumni, and the rest of Hong Kong, China, and the world, that the university does not value its relative autonomy.” From HKU Emeritus Professor and former Dean, John Burns.

Gene E. Leforge That wall was a bigger waste of money than Trump was! The Mexicans have races climbing it 2 see who can do it the fastest, less than 30sec, and in some spots they simply squeeze right through it and it fell in some places! It was and is a joke just like Trump and his cult are!
Lawry Ya know…there is China on both sides of their Great Wall. It surely didn’t start out that way. Says a lot about how well walls work, don’t ya think.
