According to The Quint, “it is misleading to say that all 100 crore doses were administered for free because these doses will include the ones administered before 21 June and would also include the vaccines given out by the private centres after 21 June,” not all of which were administered for free.
The private sector has administered over six percent of the total vaccines in the country, according to the data the Health Ministry shared in September.
PM Modi claimed India has administered 100 crore vaccine doses to its citizens free of cost. During May 1-Sept 22, 6% of doses were administered in pvt hospitals, which charge people for doses. Also, pvt hospitals procure 25% of vaccines.
