Indonesia reported a record of 29,745 new COVID-19 cases and 558 new deaths

More than 60 people died in a hospital in Indonesia this weekend after oxygen supplies nearly ran out, as the country battles a severe wave of Covid-19 that authorities say is driven by the more infectious Delta variant.

At least 63 patients died during treatment for COVID-19 in the hospital since Saturday — 33 of them during the period when the central liquid oxygen supply ran out — even though the hospital switched to using oxygen cylinders during the outage, a hospital official said.

Indonesian ministers found the oxygen shortages in some regions after the statement that guaranteed the oxygen supplied few days ago.
