An independent commission report has found that at least 21 WHO employees were involved in sexual abuse and exploitation

21 employees of WHO, including doctors and epidemiologists, allegedly perpetrated sexual abuse and exploitation during an Ebola outbreak. Some even administered abortion pills to their victims when they became pregnant.

The WHO is ‘heartbroken’, its regional director for Africa has said, after an independent commission found that 21 out of 83 alleged perpetrators of sex abuse in Democratic Republic of Congo were employed by the WHO.

The head of the WHO apologised Tuesday after an independent commission investigating allegations of sexual abuse in the #DRCongo by the UN agency’s staff issued a damning indictment citing “clear structural failures” and “individual negligence”.
