Climate change is a “huge threat” to humanity and it is very important for governments to take action as quickly as possible, Italian physics Nobel prize winner Giorgio Parisi told reporters on Tuesday.
“I hope that sooner or later people will wake up and realize that they have to do something.” The 3 scientists who were awarded the Nobel Prize in physics for their breakthrough climate models are sounding off on their win.
In the 1960s, Syukuro Manabe produced climate models that the Nobel committee today called “the first realizations of the dream of Arrhenius.” These models considered a single, vertical column of the atmosphere and feedback loops triggered by air temperature.
What people are saying?
Werner Leo Kutsch Congratulations to this year’s nobel laureates in Physics. I am happy and grateful that the excellence in Climate Science and Atmospheric Physics is awarded this time. We need this excellence as base to provide scientific climate services to societies.
Atif Ahmad Raja I have yet to see you guys tweet about Dr. Sheldon Cooper and Dr. Amy Fowler and their achievements and subsequent Nobel prize.
