The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced the selection of the Nobel Prize for Literature in a news conference on Thursday. Tanzanian novelist Abdulrazak Gurnah received the award for “for his uncompromising and compassionate penetration of the effects of colonialism and the fate of the refugee in the gulf between cultures and continents.”
Abdulrazak Gurnah, whose novels ‘penetrated the effects of colonialism in East Africa’, has been awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize in Literature.
Tanzanian novelist Abdulrazak Gurnah, won the 2021 Nobel Prize in Literature ‘for his uncompromising and compassionate penetration of the effects of colonialism and the fate of the refugee,’ the award-giving body said.
