Imelda is expected to produce total rainfall of 6 to 12 inches with isolated maximum amounts of 18 inches across the upper coastal region of Texas, including the Houston and Galveston areas, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Imelda formed over the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday afternoon and made landfall near Freeport, the National Hurricane Center said. The storm was dumping rain over southeastern Texas and is expected to keep doing so for a couple of days as it moves inland. —Channel4000.com

Per @NWSHouston, the Matagorda County, TX #Imelda rainband has been producing up to 5-inch-per-hour rainfall rates this AM. That’s more rain in an hour than New York City averages in the entire month of September.
