Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi has called for “calm and restraint” after surviving an overnight attack on his residence on Sunday. At least six people were injured after three drones targeted the prime minister’s Green Zone residence. Security forces intercepted two of the drones.
Official security media: “A failed assassination attempt targeting PM Al Kadhimi via drone unfolded in the early hours of the morning in Baghdad. Several members of the PM’s security crew have been injured”. The PM has not been injured despite claims from sources close to him.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi escaped unharmed in an assassination attempt by armed drones in Baghdad in an incident that raises tension weeks after a general election disputed by Iran-backed militia groups.
What people are saying?
Rasha Al Aqeedi The Iraqi State, Government, and PM are all in a rough spot. An attack on the PM should not be dismissed or underestimated. Acting could lead to a violent confrontation that leaves thousands of civilian victims.
Alex It has nothing to do with religion. Simply all Middle East is battle front between USA+ Israel+ allies and Russia+ Iran+ allies , exactly as Afghanistan was battlefront between USA and Soviet Union in 70’s and 80’s.
