At least 60 people were injured in protests in Montenegro

60 injured, incl 20 police over the weekend in Montenegro. Given how charged the atmosphere is/was, the good news is no one was killed. But also clear there’s next to no middle ground left after the extraordinary show of force by the govt.

Around 40 citizens and 20 police officers have been injured in Montenegro during protests against the inauguration of a bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Montenegro’s inauguration of a new head of the Serbian Orthodox Church evoked support and protests as the population remains divided over ties with Serbia and the church.

What people are saying?

Memli Krasniqi Deeply worried about the recent developments in #Montenegro. This is a déjà vu of the nineties when #Serbia instrumentalised religion to fuel destabilization and conflict. I call on the int. com. to pressure. into respecting the sovereignity of & all neighbouring countries.

Ivan Korcok Very concerned over current development in #Montenegro. I appeal on all stakeholders to lower down tensions by responsible decisions! Necessary to refrain from enciting further divisions and violence.
