Damon Albarn, of the bands Blur and Gorillaz, sparked controversy after saying in an interview that Taylor Swift “doesn’t write her own songs.” Swift, who has been credited as a songwriter on all of her studio albums, responded to Albarn on Twitter saying, “I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging.”
Albarn claimed Swift “doesn’t write her own songs” after the Los Angeles Times interviewer noted Swift was a talented songwriter. When the interviewer mentioned Swift also co-writes, Albarn responded, “That doesn’t count. I know what co-writing is.”
