North Korea is calling its new purported hypersonic missile the Hwasong-8 and says it has a glider warhead. Hypersonic missiles are not only fast, they can also change course, making them very hard to defend against. And NK claims to be developing even more new weapons.
South Korea’s JCS believes North Korea’s hypersonic missile is at an early stage of development and it will be “a considerable period of time” before it can be deployment in combat. Also claims ROK-US have assets to detect and intercept this missile.
North Korea says it has successfully tested a new hypersonic missile that it implied is being developed to deliver nuclear weapons. The North continues to press Washington and Seoul over long-stalled negotiations over its nuclear arms.
What people are saying?
Todd Fedoruk It sounds to me like NK is feeling ignored, and wants some attention. When it comes to NK, Teddy Roosevelt advise is still valid; “Speak softly and carry a big stick.”
Robert Cairns Not to worry ,raytheon tested a hypersonic ”weapon ” of their own yesterday ,the skys will be filled with them in a year or 2 ,then gen 2 super hypersonic platforms will make the hypersonics redundant and the a gen 3 super dooper hypersonic anti missle system will provide prote.
