Europe’s largest gas supplier, Russia, has denied responsibility for the European energy shortage and has expressed a readiness to assist as the continent faces a looming power crunch. Energy prices have skyrocketed as oil and gas prices continue to rise. The EU Commission has recommended several support measures, including tax cuts, as the bloc heads into winter.
Vladimir Putin told a Moscow energy conference that Russia was meeting all European gas supply requests, calling accusations that Gazprom was using energy as a ‘weapon’ to speed up approval of Nord Stream 2 pipeline, ‘politically motivated blather’.
Russia is ready to deliver all of the natural gas Europe needs, said President Putin, blaming the continent’s energy crisis on flawed policies rather than a lack of supply.
What people are saying?
Ashis Basu Listening to you @BBCSteveR speaking with @BBCTimFranks on @bbcworldservice its interesting to note that Putin is squarely lying the blame on Europe, since no long term contacts were signed, and to force the regulatory approval of Nordstream II. Political tactical excellence?
Sp7udo_as Simply let any country check it and hold on legalisation of NS2, when it stay without homologation longer during winter time they can’t provide more gas from Gasprom to homes across Europe and UK and they have to pay for not continuously supplying higher commercial penalties.
