Russia’s ruling party is projected to win majority in the country’s parliamentary election

After complaints of voting violations and a crackdown on the opposition, Putin’s ruling United Russia party is poised to retain its majority.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ruling party is set to win a decisive victory in legislative polls despite simmering discontent after sidelining political opponents.

With 20% of votes counted nationwide, the United Russia party leads with 42.92% of the vote, followed by the Communist Party with 23.04%, LDPR with 8.77%, the A Just Russia party with 7.14% and the New People party with 6.87%
