After a successful Christmas morning launch, the most powerful space telescope ever built is on its way into Earth’s orbit

After more than a quarter-century of planning, designing, building, and of obsessively testing the most complex space observatory ever assembled, the mammoth James Webb Space Telescope is scheduled to launch at 7:20 a.m. eastern time on December 25.

A $10 billion NASA space telescope named The James Webb space telescope, the most powerful ever, should be able to detect infrared light from galaxies so far away, their light has been traveling through space for almost the entire history of the universe.

The world’s largest and most powerful space telescope, NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, rocketed away Saturday. “It’s going to give us a better understanding of our universe and our place in it,” NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said.
