The NBA’s 75th anniversary season gets underway on October 19

On this day in 1960, Oscar Robertson and Jerry West both made their NBA debuts, facing off head-to-head. Robertson recorded a 21-point, 12-rebound, 10-assist triple-double, while West finished with 20 points and five assists.

The Raptors lead the league with a record-tying 10 international players from a record 9 countries on their roster, per NBA Canada. Aside from the US, Canada is the most-represented country in the NBA for the 8th straight season, with a record 18 players on opening night rosters.

It’s the NBA’s eighth straight season with more than 100 international players. Toronto leads the league with 10 players from nine countries on its roster; Dallas and Oklahoma City have seven. The league record for international players is 113 at the start of the 2016-17 season.
