Two Championship leaders were both handed penalties on Saturday by the race stewards

The Championship leaders were both handed penalties on Saturday by the race stewards. Hamilton, who was accused of drag reduction system (DRS) tampering, has been disqualified from Friday’s qualifying session over rear wing infringement just a day before the São Paulo Grand Prix.

Formula One stewards sent title contender Lewis Hamilton from first to last in the lineup for Saturday’s Sao Paulo sprint race after his Mercedes car’s rear wing failed a technical inspection.

Lewis Hamilton’s championship bid has suffered a fresh setback with another five-place grid penalty for an engine change at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

What people are saying?

Luis Endera There was no need to do something like that, it gives the team a very bad image. You have to know how to win and know how to lose, sportingly. Now we don’t know if the car is that good or it is because of the cheating.

Lesley Colonna-Dashwood Disgusting. I’m completely and utterly disgusted with the stewards. This whole thing stinks. Both decisions stink. I’m so sorry I really am. To be fair, this is putting me off F1 all together. All my solidarity to the team and Lewis of course. I’m so so angry about this.
