A Mach 5 passenger aircraft could travel from New York to London in just 90 minutes.

Boeing is working on plans for a hypersonic passenger aircraft that would cut the journey time between London and New York to around two hours. It is expect to travel at Mach 5, crossing Atlantic in 2-3 hrs.

Supersonic transport becomes hypersonic at 3,800 mph at Mach 5 and above. American based Hermeus is developing this render of a hypersonic passenger aircraft that would make a NYC to London trip in 90 minutes, 3 times faster than Concorde was ever able to.

Colin So, I’ve done a bit of research on this.. the optimal air speed is just over 500mph. Anything faster like this..just isn’t a sustainable business model. This is y most new planes still travel at 500mph.
