Allies in NATO said that they will increase support but will not grant Ukraine’s request for the implementation of no-fly zones

Key Ukrainian port cities near the Black Sea faced rapid advances by Russian troops on Friday. In Mykolaev, locals are preparing for an imminent attack. In Mariupol, a deputy mayor warned that Russian troops are encircling the city.

Switzerland targeted Russia with sweeping financial and business sanctions on Friday over its invasion of Ukraine. The new measures were in addition to sanctions announced four days ago that broke with the country’s long tradition of neutrality.
