Biden administration announced proposed rule to protect Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program

The Biden-Harris Administration continues to take action to protect Dreamers and recognize their contributions to this country. This notice of proposed rulemaking is an important step to achieve that goal.

The Biden admin. will move to publish a federal rule this week to protect children brought to the US illegally by their migrant parents prior to 2007, known as Dreamers, after a court in Texas dealt a major blow to the Obama-era rule, DHS says.

A federal judge ruled the DACA program unlawful, saying former president Barack Obama exceeded his authority when he created the program. Current recipients are not expected to be affected for now, according to reports.
