It isn’t clear if the investigation will prompt a criminal or civil action, according to AG Bonta, but he says the state’s justice department is “prepared to do what is necessary to get a full accounting of what happened.”
California’s DOJ is launching an investigation into the oil spill off the coast of Southern California, the AG said. Over 130K gallons of crude oil leaked into the surrounding area. Criminal investigations are already underway by the U.S. Coast Guard & Orange County DA’s office.
The catastrophic spill in California is not an isolated case. Pennsylvania’s Att. General has charged an oil company with environmental crime over spills that soiled water and properties. Fossil fuels are dirty, planet-wrecking energy. And we can move on.
What people are saying?
ChooBaby You would have no plastics made. Think about that….. What would they use to put that jab in before it gets put in you? Think about ALL the items made with plastic. Oil isn’t going anywhere in our lifetime.
Tabithia Moore Hopefully this results in actual criminal penalities for the precious wildlife killed, communities endangered because this oil leak. What if there was no oil at all? Clean Energy is safer and more efficient, there would be no oil leak.
