Manchin says he’ll not support carve-out of filibuster rules to raise debtceiling in Dec. Says he has a “difference” with his party on using reconciliation. Says two sides need to cut a deal. “The filibuster is the only thread we have in America to keep democracy alive and well”
This debt ceiling increase should’ve been paired with significant spending cuts – not to facilitate the Democrats’ partisan tax and spend spree. Democrats are hell bent on fundamentally transforming this nation & destroying the free market system.
McConnell backed off the debt ceiling only because he saw that the President was possibly going to change the filibuster rules, and he got scared. Now, we need to widen that small crack into a full blown ditch. I have no doubt that if the GOP takes the Senate, they will drop it.
What people are saying?
Jack Donahue When the budget is passed and Republicans abstain, then any monies designated for Republican states should be withheld. They don’t want to vote, then they don’t get the money!
TimLaxDad The GOP never should have caved on this issue. Stop raising the debt ceiling and start cutting back on government spending!!
Trizzo “Excellent with flags” like this is a good thing for America when it would likely be devastating for America if the debt ceiling isn’t raised and the US defaults.
