With great sadness and heavy hearts, the Levin Family and Levin Center at Wayne Law announce the passing of Senator Carl Levin – a dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, and life-long public servant.
Sad news about the death of a long-time Senate fixture: Carl Levin, the former Michigan senator, Armed Services chair and a man revered by both parties. His death comes just days after the passing of Mike Enzi, a former chairman and genial man with many friends on both sides.
What people are saying?
Rep. Eric Swalwell Rest In Peace, Senator Carl Levin. As a congressional intern, I worked at a gym near the Capitol. Every morning, I checked out a racquetball court to Carl and his brother, Rep. Sandy Levin. I was a 20-year-old nobody, but Carl was always so kind & greeted me by name each morning.
John M. Donnelly I am so sorry to hear tonight’s sad news of the passing of Sen. Carl Levin, one of the Senate’s lions and among the most decent people I’ve met. I had the honor of inviting him to the 2007 Washington Press Club Foundation dinner.
Nolan Finley RIP Carl Levin. Last time I talked with the senator he was calling to discuss how to help Timinju Kensu, the obviously innocent lifer the state refuses to release. Justice was his passion.
