After missing a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the New York City Marathon returned for its 50th running on November 7, 2021. Jepchirchir won the women’s division with an unofficial time of 2:22:39. Korir won the men’s race with a time of 2:08:22. About 33,000 people raced this year, which is under the typical participation of more than 50,000.
Some 30,000 people ran the New York City Marathon on Sunday. Scenes were captured as they made the journey through the city’s five boroughs.
Tommy Rivers Puzey nearly died after he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer in July 2020. He had to relearn how to swallow, how to use his hands, how to sit up and to walk. Then, on Sunday, he completed the New York City Marathon.
What people are saying?
Jacqui One of best marathons in the world. My cousin has run it several times. Would be an ambition of mine but likely never happen.
Alex Lem All of this in the middle of a pandemic. People get vaccinated and think all of a sudden taking their masks off and not social distancing is fine. Disgusting and selfish behavior.
