Senate Republicans have blocked an emergency spending bill

The federal government is facing a potential government shutdown by the end of the week after Senate Republicans blocked an emergency spending bill, which would allow federal borrowing, lift debt limits and keep the government operating, on Monday night.

Senate Republicans blocked a bill to avert a government shutdown and a debt default in an effort to undercut President Biden and Democrats.

U.S. Senate votes 48-50 in a procedural vote on a stopgap spending bill—falling short of the 60 votes needed to advance the legislation that would avert a government shutdown and extend the debt limit; zero Republicans voted in favor of the bill.

What people are saying?

Cindy Best get something passed..don’t even allow our government to shut down!!! Too many households depend on their social security checks to pay for their rent, medical insurance, prescriptions, power bills, food, etc.

Errol Edwards
Shows the extent Republicans will go to too! The foundation of Americas economic structure is at risk if this bill is not passed, yet Reps are willing to allow it to fail. All Americans will be affected negatively by this partisan act.
