Texas AG Paxton says state filed an appeal to reinstate ‘fetal heartbeat’ abortion law

Texas AG Ken Paxton has asked the 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals to restore Texas’ six-week abortion ban while a federal judge’s ruling blocking the new law is appealed.

Texas AG Ken Paxton stumped by federal judge’s question about what would Texas do if anti-abortion law enjoined given that state has no role in enforcing the law – should have seen that one coming.

So that is a bit of background on origins of that odd lawsuit Texas AG Paxton filed in Dec 2020 to try to overturn the election of President Joe Biden. The Supreme Court, of course, rejected the move. (Farris was “extremely disappointed”) But this is still part of that history.

What people are saying?

Kyle Morris “I do think it will be successful,” Paxton told Fox News of the appeal. “I think that duly elected representatives of people made the decision about how they wanted to address this, and I think the stay was premature.”

Irene Carter Meaningless. HIPPA was not in the opinion. HIPPA is Federally mandated. And, the Federal Goverment has the right to limit funding to States that violate it. To include Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare, CHAMPVA, and others. Abortion is a private matter, covered by HIPPA for privacy.
