The Biden administration plans to start offering booster shots to all vaccinated Americans

Americans who got a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine will be offered a booster shot 8 months after their second dose starting the week of Sept. 20, Biden health officials say.

Officials said they expect to recommend booster shots for people who received the single-dose J&J vaccine, but are waiting for more data in the next few weeks before laying out a plan.

The plan for booster shots is awaiting an FDA evaluation of the safety and effectiveness of a third dose. Health officials say people who received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine will also probably need extra shots, but more data is needed. ​
