The judge overseeing the murder trial in the killing of Ahmaud Arbery rejected defense lawyers’ requests for a mistrial Monday and denounced as “reprehensible” one attorney’s comments objecting to Black pastors in the courtroom.
A defense attorney for one of the men on trial for the killing of Ahmaud Arbery tried again Monday to remove a prominent black American from the public gallery of the closely-watched trial, this time Jesse Jackson. Last week it was Al Sharpton.
The defense attorney in the killing of Ahmaud Arbery has asked that Jesse Jackson leave the courtroom and view the proceedings from another location. He assures the court that the alternate viewing room will be separate, but equal.
What people are saying?
Keith Olbermann The attorney representing the man who filmed the hunting and killing of AhmaudArbery has objected to the presence of Al Sharpton: “We don’t want to have any more black pastors coming in here.” This slime is Kevin Gough, a disgraced former public defender.
Pepper Oceanna Lewis I truly am praying that the jury finds Greg McMichael, Travis McMichael and William Bryan, Guilty in the killing of AhmaudArbery. This case is beyond disturbing.
