The White House said it intends to appeal the court ruling that overturned the travel mask mandate

The Biden administration announced on Tuesday it intends to appeal a court ruling that overturned the federal mask mandate on airplanes and public transportation. The administration said it will only appeal the decision if the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) determines extending the mandate is necessary for public health.

Some airlines say they will consider refunds or credits for passengers who don’t want to fly now that the mask mandate has been dropped. But the the companies aren’t giving many details.

Los Angeles County announced on Thursday that it would continue requiring people to wear masks on all public transit and in airports, railway stations and other transportation hubs, embracing guidance from the CDC.
