On Monday, both Ukraine and Russia prepared for the first face-to-face peace talks in more than two weeks, which are set to be held in Istanbul on Tuesday. According to US officials, Russian President Vladimir Putin did not appear ready to make compromises to end the war and, per Ukrainian foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine will not be “trading people, land or sovereignty.”
U.S. President Joe Biden submitted a $5.79 trillion budget plan to Congress that calls for record peacetime military spending and further aid for Ukraine, while raising taxes for billionaires and companies and lowering government deficits.
Ukrainians on Monday reported that they had pushed back invading Russian forces in fierce fighting around Kyiv and in northeastern Ukraine. Another round of talks between the two sides is set to begin in Istanbul on Tuesday.
What people are saying?
Matthew McCracken Kiev is not a priority area for the Russian forces. They are focused on annihilating the Ukronazi forces that they have surrounded in Donbass. They are only shackling the Ukronazis down in the Kiev region to ensure supplies and reinforcements can’t be sent to Donbass.
